Mohammad Asef Forough made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran was the first Muslim world personality to mention the issue of Palestine at the world level.
Imam Khomeini stood against the Israeli regime and urged all Muslim world to defend Palestine, he noted.
According to the Afghan cleric, these stances originate from the teachings of the Holy Quran and Islam that emphasize supporting the oppressed and standing up against oppressors.
These teachings are followed by Muslim nations but when it comes to Muslim countries’ governments, there is a lack of acting upon these teachings, he stated.
While some of these countries pretend to be supporters of Palestine and the Palestinian cause, they have failed to act accordingly and there has not been any genuine support, he said.
With their silence on the Israeli regime’s crimes and making such moves as normalization of ties with Tel Aviv, they are actually walking on the path of destroying the cause of Palestine, Asef Forough deplored.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran is the one that has acted upon the Quranic and Islamic teachings and properly played its role in defending the people of Palestine and other Muslims in the world.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the cleric referred to the martyrdom of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and their companions in a recent helicopter crash and expressed condolences to the Iranian people over the tragic incident.
He said the martyred president and foreign minister had a brilliant record in supporting Palestine and the people of the Gaza Strip.
At different regional and international gatherings and conferences, they encouraged the Muslim world and other countries to support Gaza and adopt principled stances on the issue of Palatine, he went on to say.
